Parents need to take care and give clear instructions to their children about usage of Facebook and other social networking sites. Communication is truly key here….

Facebook is like an epidemic, we can go on debating about whether if children should be allowed to use it for forever. Even though Facebook requires a user to have an e-mail which means they have to be 18 years old, children are able to make their own ids and be on it. And while we discuss what’s right or wrong, there are children getting exposed to content and information they shouldn’t, and most importantly they don’t know how to handle such bombardment of information. So, what do we do? We shall be proactive. Educate children, trust them, communicate this trust, guide them and make sure they are as protected as possible.

Here’s a simple guide, print and paste it near the home computer. Frequently viewing it will remind your child that you do care, you are interested and have the right to know if your child is safe:
